Dwayne On Mike & Mike in the Morning
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was on Mike & Mike in the Morning on ESPN Radio & ESPN Classic on Tuesday morning. He was on to plug his new movie “The Game-plan,” but also fielded questions about his wrestling career and the industry. The following are some excerpts from the interview.
When asked if he wants to be called The Rock, Dwayne or Mr. Johnson: He said handsome and laughed.
When asked about wrestling (including about the unfortunate deaths & steroids) and what’s going on with that: He says he favors education on the problems in the industry for the wrestlers about not mixing drugs with the lifestyle in wrestling. He also thinks that an environment needs to be created in wrestling where it’s not condoned. He says to some it’s become okay. Also, he says there needs to be a zero tolerance attitude due to younger kids looking up to them.
When asked about the wrestling lifestyle: He says it’s extremely difficult. There is no off-season, no I.R., performing 250 nights a year. He says you combine that with substance abuse it’s a dangerous concoction.
When asked what he enjoyed more (acting, wrestling or football): He said acting because in wrestling he was able to accomplish so much (and was grateful for it) and he just wasn’t growing anymore and he realized it. He said he loves acting.
