WWE and The Rock Part ways
Thanks to prowrestlig.com:
WWE.com has finally removed The Rock’s profile from the RAW Superstars section on WWE.com. It seems like WWE kept the profile up when he had been long gone because it would make them look cool, and of course, there was the off-chance that he could show up on television at a moment’s notice. In several interviews, Dwayne Johnson has said that he is no longer under contract with WWE and that his contract had expired at the end of 2004. WWE didn’t even try to renew it because they simply forget that his contract had run out as it flew under the radar. Vince McMahon later called and apologized to him for the mishap. They wanted him to wrestle at WrestleMania 21, but against John Cena. Rock wasn’t too interested in wrestling Cena. He probably would have done WrestleMania that year had they gotten Sting because he wanted to wrestle him at Mania that year. Anyways, The Rock hasn’t appeared in a WWE ring in nearly two and a half years. His last appearance to date in WWE was hosting a “Pie-Eating Contest” (in which Christy Hemme fed pie to her butt because it was hungry) during the 2004 WWE Diva Search on the August 23, 2004 edition of RAW.
